...despite how good a livestream service may be, they will never replace the gathered collection of the faithful. And that is okay. Livestreaming worship is not designed to replace the importance, nor the power, of gathering together physically. Personally, I rejoice in this fact. I would lament if someone voiced excitement that livestream worship meant they never need attend in-person worship again! For example, I hope that watching people gather at the Table would create the longing to join the Eucharistic company. Livestream worship points to the fuller expression of worship found within the community of faith. While articulating what occurs within the community, it will never replace the community.
